An Annual Audit System That Actually Works
This is the time of year where we often make big plans for the year ahead. Which is great! But, we’re much more likely to make progress if we take time to learn from the last year and intentionally set goals for the year ahead.
Personally, I’ll be spending this Saturday doing an annual review and new year strategy day. Even if you don’t have time for a full day, even spending an hour on key questions can help a ton with clarity and motivation. Here are some questions I’ll be pondering:
Review
How did the past year go? What went well, and what went poorly? Why?
What lessons did I learn?
Who or what helped me move towards my goals? Who or what held me back?
Plan
What would 90-year-old-me be glad I did or did not do this year?
What do I want to spend more of my time on? What do I want to spend less time on?
What habits are serving me? What do I need to add? What do I need to stop?
What would have to happen by the end of 2026 for the year to have been a success?
How can I be my best self — for myself and others — in the coming year?
